I have yet to see a healthy person that excersises and eats modestly be fat. They might not look like supermodels or Atlas but they are fit.

Everything else is gimick...the "majic "pill or drink.

      From the article:

"We all react differently to an environment that is becoming more and more similar, and the reason we react differently is in part genetic in origin."

Personaly I wonder what climate and diet I was built for. Some place with lots of books, no pollen, and hot springs of a caffine-like drink.

Seriously; the last time I watched the local marathon, every kind of body shape went past.

Being obese has little to do with genetics - SOME maybe as I expect genetics has SOMETHING to do with metabolic rates. The MAIN thing that has to do with obesity is more calories taken in than are burned off. Too much TV. Too much time on the video game console. Not enough time spent up off your as* DOING something. I can pretty much guarantee that if every TV set and/or game console in the U.S were to suddenly disappear, within 2 or 3 years most people would weigh a lot less as they got up off the damn couch (personally I prefer a recliner.. {;>D)=) and found something to DO.

I think its more like 40 percent genetics, and 60 percent pancakes.

You are so right, joe. If you want to lose weight eat less and move more. It's pretty easy to lose weight just keep your elbows straight and your mouth shut. lol

Obesity is all genetics. We are hard-wired to eat when food is available--and to be drawn to sugary and fatty foods--because for many thousands of years we had to endure endless droughts and famines. That is still true in some parts of the world, and the human body has evolved--genetically--to help us survive--hence we don't get the natural exercise we had for many thousands of years.

"Watching" what we eat and planned exercise programs are learned because in the 20th century we finally reached a point where we could use economies of scale, etc. to produce food and we created sedentary jobs and moved to cities where we don't garden, raise animals, and hunt for eggs and meat to survive.
