"My skin is so sensitive I get sunburned watching the weather channel. So how does one enjoy the boost in self confidence that a tanned complexion provides, when everything you read and watch tells you "Sun: bad. Tanning beds: bad. UV rays: bad. Skin cancer: really bad"? The answer: sunless tanning."

This is good. Actually, natural sun and suntanning at a salon are better since the Vitamin D which is lacking by most Americans needs to be addressed. Sun is GOOD for you. If not sun, go to a tanning salon

The boost in self confidence that being tan provides? You know what feels even better than that? Having the natural self-confidence to not need to conform to society's standards of what looks good. I'm pale as a sheet, and I think it looks good on me. I'm not going to change it because society says is that tans are more attractive and healthy than natural skin.

I was harassed for that in school. No one knew my name or even cared. I was "that pale freak." The school did nothing, if anything, they made it worse, so had to just take it.

Articles like this contribute to that happening.Stop bashing paleness maybe a few other people can be saved from going through school as nameless entities known only by their complexions.

As for the health benefits of the sun, twenty minutes a week, just to the face, with sunscreen is enough. Get your facts straight. There are always Vitamin D pills, too. I'd sure rather take a pill than risk skin cancer, but I digress.
