    Most Counterfeited

"Pfizer's Mages says Viagra remains the world's most- counterfeited drug and accounted by volume for almost three- quarters of the illicit copies of Pfizer brands seized last year in 45 countries. The drugs are marketed on Internet sites whose operations are also global, "she says.

"While a portion of drugs identified as counterfeit lack proper ingredients or contain incorrect and misidentified dosages, authorities have also seized chemically identical duplicates created by manufacturers in China and India and shipped to the U.S. or Europe in violation of patent laws."

"U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials say they are unable to stop the flow of illegal drugs sold on the Internet."

``There are counterfeiters circulating all over the world,'' says Ilisa Bernstein, director of pharmacy affairs at the Rockville, Maryland-based FDA. ``It's hard to tell how many there are because the counterfeiters are just so good at what they do.''

STONERS - It's the usual human failing that crooks just love !!!

"It's so cheap, I'll try it"......

These fake drugs are responsible for a great many deaths (I'll see if I can find an article I read in the Telegraph, some time ago). IF anything, your post UNDERVALUES the trade.....

In most "regulated" countries, if your buy from the chemist (pharmacist), you've got a very good chance of getting what you pay for..... In the others, you're playing Russian Roulette.....

Good find, as there are WAY too many people who think that 'cos it's bought from the net, it MUST be OK......

Old expression - "If it looks to good to be true, it usually is !"

Representative Bart Stupak, a Michigan Democrat who chairs the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations, says the FDA's failure to act has contributed to the flow of counterfeit drugs into the U.S. Stupak says he has repeatedly asked the FDA if it needs new laws passed to strengthen enforcement and they "have remained silent."

FDA - this is our government on drugs! Deregulation only leads to easier pickings for criminal enterprises along with the legal ones. Thanks, Bushy.

Hey Stone, Swampie here to make yet another confession. When dudes have strokes, their ability to satisfy their (fill in the blank) is literally up for grabs. My cool doctors said to expect a change in sexual activity. Expect what, I asked warily. They said openly that they didn't know "what" to expect, but it would change. They were right, sorta'.

Suffice to say, I have no need for Viagra. I need saltpeter!

Guess that makes me into one horny critter??? Peace,

I was trying to vote on this story last evening, and Propeller kept telling me to log in, even though I had found this story, because STONERS notified me. I gave up after a while.

So, sorry for being late to voting on your story STONERS!

Until there is more inspection on all products and some laws that will help control internet sales in all countries, this will only grow get worse!

            Good article, thanks STONERS!
