"The infection, Clostridium difficile, is found in the colon and can cause diarrhea and a more serious intestinal condition known as colitis. It is spread by spores in feces. But the spores are difficult to kill with most conventional household cleaners or antibacterial soap."
"C-diff, as it's known, has grown resistant to certain antibiotics that work against other colon bacteria. The result: When patients take those antibiotics, competing bacteria die off and C-diff explodes."
"This virulent strain of C-diff was rarely seen before 2000."

STONE - Just ask the UK, their hospitals know ALL about it....
Once upon a time, the UK's health system was held up as an ICON to ALL those wanting a workable health system...
It is now a deadly joke... C-Diff, MRSA are just two of the benefits of the "NEW" UK NHS......
Sad.....

The CDC has no known recommendations for killing the spores. Using certain antibiotics which kill the good flora (that fights bad things) in the gut makes people more vulnerable. My 91 YO father entered the hospital with a UTI last month, they put him on antibiotics, & he contracted C-diff. The hospital missed the diagnosis and sent him home where he deteriorated, & had to be re-hospitalized with serious dehydration.
The first line of defense is the hospitals handling of fecal material. Of course, patients have no idea whether they do that well or not.

wow.....That is a lot of people getting this superbug! I visit people in the hospital and nursing homes often. I always wash my hands after I leave and try not to touch anything until I wash my hands.
If it is in a form of a spore, I think it is also an airborne illness! Being around live cooped up chickens can cause a person to go blind, due to the spores released into the air, in a confined chicken coop. The spores enter the eyes, causing blindness.
Thanks STONERS!

One of My relatives that had colon cancer, gave me a grease storage jar. no matter how many times I wash that jar the smell of old bacon grease stayed in it. I let it sit as an ornament on top of the refrigerator and it sweated grease. How I don't know but it was squeaky clean when I put it up there. I finally threw it away. I bet that is where the cancer came from, the apartment was kept spotless.

Hmmm, this super bug didn't appear until 2000. I wonder if GM foods had anything to contribute to this???

With the many things becoming resistant to antibiotics, it really concerns me that a more serious action isn't taken on the use of antibiotics in meat products, foods, and all the antibiotics flushed into our waters every day.
And why don't hospitals/nursing homes etc.. insist that all visitors and workers wear masks, and make people use something on their hands when entering? so many things can be prevented, and I know people may not like having their visitors wearing those things, but it would be for the protection of everyone.

Why must every little cough or cold be cured with antibiotica?
Most of the dangerous resistancies we are faced with now, would not exist, if we trusted in the power of our body to heal itself, as long as possible!

Thanks Stoners. ... I noticed there's 2 sinks on this posting.
Why in heaven's name would somebody sink this posting?
There's some people other there that have no cares in the world.
Just wait. Maybe they're the ones that are spreading this around.
