I must tell hubby, he has lung problems and eats a lot of popcorn, YIKES.

    I can't eat popcorn,

Maybe we should go back to shaking our own on the stove like we used to.

Sadly, people have been suffering from the effects of diacetyl for almost 10 years now.

Here's an article I read way back in 2002. Microwave popcorn factory workers were falling ill, but no one knew the exact cause back then.

Easy solution: Buy Butter-Free popcorn, and then melt some real butter in the microwave and drizzle it on top. It tastes WAY better and I bet the caloric count is about the same. Artificial butter is fattening too. And on the plus side, no Popcorn Lung.

I like Orville Redenbacher's because they don't use diacetyl at all. I don't eat microwave popcorn anymore. I gone back to making it the old fashion way.

Paul Newman no-butter popcorn is a gift from God.

Beautiful fluffy-white kernels kissed by angels.

I put no butter on it, but I give it a nice sprinkling of Tabasco sauce.

                  Heavenly!

If you want to caugh your lungs out, take a sniff of burning micro-waved popcorn. It's almost like inhaling burning poison ivy smoke.

Good point, it does seem to be more of a problem for the popcorn workers than for the popcorn eaters.

But, on the other hand, diacetyl butter flavor is hardly a necessity of modern life so the burden of proof should be on the manufacturer to show that it is safe, rather than on the people to show that it is dangerous.

                              Please loose the caps.

its what happens when you try to over simplify, over modify food. there's nothing wrong with basic popcorn.
