I have also read about MSG that I used to think only Chinese restaurants used it in their food. I found out that many food industries including fast foods such as Mc Donalds use it except they call it with a different name. I read that the main purpose of using MSG by these food industries was to create cravings so that customers go back to that food again and again. I had a better clue why after eating Chinese food I feel hungry again before I even reach my car in the parking lot. Maybe an exhageration but it does not take long for me to feel hungry again after I eat Chinese food and I am not even a big eater. :)

I know that is true about Chinese food from personal experience. It is never able to hold my appetite for a long period of time.

Good story that can easily be followed into the genetically modified food arena.

There is no way nature could possibly produce as many obese to the point of ridiculousness people as the US and Western Europe have been able to produce. Only a very calculated plan to make the US population as helpless and dependent on the government, which is ideologically bound to despise you for existing, as possible, would be able to cause such a bizarre change in a population who a few decades ago were so skinny that in WWII the majority of G.I.s were enjoying three actual meals a day for the first time in their lives. Of course Cars are mostly to blame, but the starch obsessed fast food insanity surely hasn't helped much. The two countries with the second and third highest levels of obesity, of course, are also the 2 with the highest saturation of US-style fast food: the UK and Germany. I've never seen more kids waving little McDonald's flags than in Munich

Yes, it's true. The food manufacturers are putting things in food that have no business being there. Besides MSG, there are the food colorings. The worst I've heard are Red #40 and Blue Lake and Yellow food dyes. They are completely chemical in nature and not natural at all.
Which brings me to the word "natural". The food industry loves using this selling word. They like "new," "improved," and other words like that to sell their product. Natural is not "natural" in a food that comes in a box, bottle or can.
Genetically modified foods are also worrisome. You don't really know if you are consuming these foods because the companies are not required to tell the consumer. Why? Why not tell the consumer? What are they trying to hide?
I also wonder this: The Food and Drug Administration. Why do they put these two things together: Food and Drugs?

The sooner we realize this about what we are putting into our mouths to nourish ourselves are actually only designed to make profits for a frikkin' company. Just as long as it tastes good and sells, who cares what goes into it. That seems to be their mission statement.
