"The Ministry of Health said in a statement that a third of the Chinese-made toothpaste tested contained "unacceptable levels" of diethylene glycol."

"Diethylene glycol is an industrial solvent used in paint and antifreeze and can cause kidney and liver damage."

Hey..what's a little diethylene glycol and formaldehyde between friends?

Only an alarmist or hypochondriac concerns themselves with major organ damage......;)

I'm a little surprised that they have an "acceptable" level of those things.

Chinese officials have said the world should have faith in the "made-in-China" label and have described the spate of product recalls as unfair, biased and politically motivated.

        ----------...

Let me translate the above..."You weren't supposed to catch us so soon..."

BB, it comes under one of those crazy things called a "trade deal". Little NZ, desperate for export markets for its agricultural products, is obliged to import all sorts of miscellany from the People's Republic in return --clothes which catch fire or cause allergies, poison toothpaste, and goodness knows what else. The US for sure isn't alone on this one.

I wish I could invest in a home factory for toys right now. I wonder if this glycerine substitute could cause unforeseeable damages in the future of the human body?

They are dying by the truck load over there, there are just so many of them you don't notice. Their air is poisoned, their water is poisoned, they are running out of trees and land. Not the brightest bunch on the planet that is for sure. Not to mention the fact that they only want to have male children, again with only one sex you cannot reproduce. Just stupid. But I guess they'll be after ours sooner or later. They just don't seem to look ahead at the possible repercussions for their actions. To me that is the very definition of stupid. They do not innovate or invent, they just steal and make cheap copies of everything everyone else makes. Now they want to infect the rest of the world with their stupidity and poor judgment. To hell with them I say.

They get the FIRST brunt of the attack...They are exposed to the lead paint in Aerosol form...straight into the lungs and blood...all the other $h!t as well...but they have NO regulatory agencies...just an office to collect bribes.

We don't really know what their census is...just what THEY tell us; and THESE bastards are even less accountable than LeShrub...which is probably why HE likes dealing with them!!!

in my opinion, i believe they are doing this on purpose and ialso believe that someone high up in the American companies knows what it is that China is doing.

my reason for this belief is:

the American companies that has manufacturing facilities in China know what our standards are for saftey reasons (America went thru this 40 or more yrs ago. thats why we have restrictions on manufactured items) therefore why are china exports dangerous to the human body.

American companies ceos dont care about the their consumers. they always have some kind of excuse. bottom line for them is money. the higher their stocks are, the more money they think they deserve.

the American people want to complain about these hazards. they are partly to blame themselves for purchasing items made in China. (its the old saying u get what u pay for. people gotta expect that when u buy cheap items, expect to receive poor & toxic quality of these items)

Those Chinese...ya gotta love 'em! They are working on lowering American's resistance before they attack us. On top of all that, we just can't wait to spend American dollars to help them build an un-beatable military unless we nuke the crap out of them before they (and the Russians) nuke the crap out of us. The sky is falling.

I'm not sure how the toxicity levels were established. I would like to point out that trade law should agree on what is acceptable. This I suppose would inevitably make all of the import products more expensive and less desirable to some of the large US businesses that have profitted by our current agreements. That aside, consuming nearly any tooth paste as opposed to carefully spitting it out and rinsing is probably not good for you.

What are the names of the toothpastes? I guess even our own government does not want us to know.

New clothes smell funny-espeacially the softie sweaters and blankets. I wash everything even if it is new. I bet they load them up with chemicals to kill all of the bugs on the way over.

They probablly are posioning us so we will buy organs from there. I heard pirating of organs is a big business there.

Where is the fda in all of this?

Probablly cruising around in a big tax payer sponsored suv. I saw government tags on a few of them. The way they waste our money it is a wonder they do not drive Hummers.

NZ recently had another scare with Chinese products -- imported clothes so loaded with additives, artificial dyes, insecticides, etc., that they caused allergies in whoever wore them.

We may have Nixon to thank for this. I do recall that after he stepped down from office that he had a lot to do with China.

Glad to hear racism is alive and well. Yes, from what the comments tell me, most of you are racists (might as well admit to it) and ignorant ones at that. First, it was Chinese-manufactured toothpaste, not Chinese toothpaste. You see, someone had to contract with these factories and then, there were countless officials (most likely white), who imported the product and physically brought it into your country, put it one your store shelves. The reason second-rate ingredients were used was because the Chinese manufacturerers were under tremendous pressure to produce a product for a ridiculously low amount of money. Now, last time I checked, people shouldn't be eating their toothpaste, but hey, it is your god given right as white peoples to do as you please, no matter how stupid it is in principle. The only individuals getting rich off of selling products with faulty ingredients are the white CEOs and brand workers, all the mid-level management, etc who don't give a rat's ass about their consumers, just what they are lining their plush bank accounts with. Furthermore, people who think this is a conspiracy on the part of the Chinese are completely dellusional. Chinese people could care less about you, but at least they don't hate and spew ungodly venom like you whites do. (I bet a few of you even consider yourselves christians, ha). You should all be ashamed of yourselves, and if not, it's time to to fess up and don your sad little white hoods or polish up that gun holster with the swastika on it.
