What about stopping eating carbohydrates in all forms? Then there won't be any need for medication!

Carbs are probably not the cause of diabetes, but they sure don't help. The worst carbs, of course, are the ones we have available the most. Overly processed bread, pasta and rolls. Then, one must also consider alcohol. Especially beer.

I'm a fat guy, so I'm supposed to get about 300 grams of carbs a day. Here's how I was eating before my doctor told me that if I didn't get it together I'd be lucky to make 50.

              Breakfast

              2 Eggs

A piece of toast (not whole wheat)

              Bacon/ham/sausage

              Carb load: 17 grams

              Lunch

              Hamburger

              Fries

              Coke

Carb load: 100 grams, plus the bonus 19 grams of sat fat.

              Supper

              Roast

              Mashed potatoes

              Bread

              Green beans

              Carb load: 100 grams

After, before and during dinner drinks

              10 Non-lite Beers with popcorn

              Carb load: 210 grams

That's a total of 427 grams of carbs. No wonder I was in trouble.

I had a scare with diabetes a couple of months ago. Diabetes is a terrible disease and a scourge of American eating habits. My doctor gave me the stink eye, so I lost thirty pounds, walk every day and quit with the massive amounts of carbs that I was consuming.

My fasting glucose went from 137 to 99 in three months. The doc is still giving me the stink eye, but he's happier than he was. And the doctor is a lot like mamma. If he isn't happy, I'm not happy.

"...there are studies being done and nothing has been proven medically."

Er, is this important to the supplement industry? First I've ever heard of it.

The direct cause of adult onset diabetes is excessive carbs consumption! The recommended in America "Health Pyramid" with its basis of breads, pasta, and other grains(the most profitable for the corporations!) plus enormous amounts of juices and even excess of fresh fruit in the diet - is the reason why most Americans consume 300-500 grams of carbs daily, which about 4-5 times exceeded the daily norm. Look at native Americans, for example! Almost 100 percent of them are now having diabetes, due to Western style of nutrition, while just a couple of generations ago those nations didn't know this disease.
