Ugh- everybody just needs to stop eating beef altogether! Then they'll fix the system.

It is so utterly obvious that the FDA and the USDA have failed so miserably at what they do, that one has to wonder if it's on purpose.

The USDA wants to allow more conventional ingredients in organics. The USDA also wants to allow raw almonds to be pasteurized.

Our food supply is in shambles and we've been lied to by the food industry for decades. Packaged this/frozen that/prepr... modified/irradiation...the list goes on and on.

But it all points to one thing.....profits.

Sieben- you seem to have MANY concerns about America, I'd suggest not visiting our country.

Sieben..I understand your concern. When I lived abroad there were always the warnings of 'don't eat from the street vendors' Here you need to beware of what comes out of our grocery stores for mass consumption. It is scary. Sieben--if you shop at any 'good' organic grocer for your meat, you should be fine.

well here we go again another food recall this time its beef last time it was pet food it is apparent that the government cannot protect us from contaminated foods. It has become complacent with status quo. and lets companies regulate them- selves when is enough, enough how many have to get sick or die before the politicians get off their lazy asses and protect the foods we eat

I have a link to a video you really have to see.

I'm trying to change my habits myself to reduce the amount of meat I eat as much as possible; I'm chaning over time.

As a matter of fact, I just bought a pack of 3 1/2-gallon jugs of organic soy based milk from Costco. I never usually eat meat more than once a day. I'm working hard to reduce it a lot more. Kinda hard sometimes, since I drive for a profession.

The video tells the story, but I don't think the video offered anything that everybody didn't already know. At most I eat one helping of meat weekly.

Ever get the feeling we are going to hell in a handbasket? Everything seems to be getting out of control. If you seen how these cattle, chickens, pigs, whatever lived you wouldn't eat anything with meat in it. Corporation food chain at its best, UGH, where is the government inspection and oversight?

Cheap and fast-keep the profits coming in. I wonder if the beef came from china or somewhere else. I do not eat much meat because it is gross. It taste like eating a big chunk of fat.

To save money I bet they are feeding the livestock their own feces.

I am a beef producer, and NO!!! WE DO NOT FEED livestock their own feces. I have a small family farm and we eat meat with every meal. I have every confidence in the way I raise my cattle that they are save for my family to eat.

Actaully you are WRONG! E. Coli can be found on Vegetables also. The biggest thing in food safety is making sure it is properly washed and handled properly.

Vei is right. There is always a threat, especially when improperly handled. WE need to learn how to have small gardens, if only for the occasional salad, etc. plus it tastes SO much better than the irradiated, ethane-injected, fast ripened trap (replace t w/ c) you find in the stores.

But even that is more healthy than a diet of beef. Everything in moderation...

Cooking the meat thoroughly. There is a website which provides instructions. I have tried to paste the link here, but Mickey Mouse is preventing me from pasting it.

Just be sure to have the meat cooked properly. Meaning no red in the center and no red juices. That will kill the E. Coli.

All freezing does is put the bacteria into a dormant state. Thawed, they wake up again and continue their multiplication and damage.

I've rented an old school bus and I'm heading out to Missouri today. Ima load that bus down with cheap meat I seen advertised on eBay and head back for L.A. Look for me downtown. I'll be selling beef for around 75 cents a pound this weekend.

Following the link provided to the FDA site, we see that the addition of the melamine to the food sold in the United States as it was for the cat food is considered a minimal risk. What SHOULD have happened is a ban on the food from China and endictments to those who brought it into the United States (no excuese, no..I didn't ask and no one would tell, just jail time).

However the "protection of American soil is now in the hands of the highest bidders, and the FDA has been adulterated by the the same cast of characters that would bring the ports under the control of arab countries, open the southern boarder to unlimited and uncontrolled trucking traffic, and has sold our American jobs to interests that pay high bribary premiums.

In answer to some previous postings - China is not a beef producer or beef exporter to the US - as far as big beefers eating their own feces - the only beefy feces eaters I know work in Washington at the public's expense
