You can just look around my neighborhood....nothing, no kids playing outside. I suppose it to some reaserch money and some Phd's to figure that one out.

It's the computer age. All I know, yes it will offend many, is no matter where I go obese people are now in the majority within America.
It's a sign of progress though when you see the rules change concerning young models that look like death warmed over inside their skeletal bodies. Do people really think these bone showing emaciated bodies look good?
But back on fat, I gained 10 lbs. over where I should be and my health felt awful. Consequently, I lost it and now feel like I should. Exercise is the key, I don't care how many diets you espouse they do not work like good old fashioned exercise. Most kids today are obese and I blame the parents. My children were instilled with the idea of exercise, playing outside and limited T.V. How about yours?

You know something? I was a teen once. I even had video games back in the 1980's, not like today though. I still went outside and play. I rode my BMX bike with my friends. Went swimming at the local YMCA. And ran around the neighborhood like a bunch of crazies! Where in the world does this information comes from? Who does it? I still see kids playing outside.

Not only adolescents but adults too. However, that's another issue. Too many video games, ipods and the like. Look at the activities that required physical effort that is now not required because of technology. Some good, some not so good. How many people choose to walk instead of taking the escalator? How many walk instead of riding when they play golf? How many drive around the parking lot for 10 minutes waiting for a parking spot to open up right next to the store? How many kids would rather play a video game than to go outside and play? Bad diets, even worse.

Did someone actually get paid to research this? It's evident whenever I go out in public and see teenage girls wearing half-shirts with their big gut hanging out. It's evident when you see kids driving around a parking lot several times to get a closer spot to the GYM! Kids don't play outside as someone mentioned. They are all inside playing on the computer (myspace, IM, games, etc). The parents are to blame for not encouraging their kids to be active. Of course, their parents are usually overweight as well. It's the me generation and they want everything now. Exercising, playing outside, watching what they eat....they all take time and comittment....something kids don't want to do...again, blame their parents.

There is a pee-wee football field just across the street from me where I walk my dog, then behind that there are trails through the woods up to an orchard. Other thann the seasonal footballers I rarely see anyone down there. I think it's the video-orientation of our society. Good one,NelsonR, it reminds me of an old Mad Magazine Cartoon showing a Chinese soldier poking at an American ( the American drawn as a Weeble )
