Dec. 20, 2006, 10:56 a.m.Funny. But did you read the article? The type of herpes that was contracted was NOT the sexually trasmitted kind. In other words, this WAS the type you could "get from a handshake". Consdering the nature of the activity involved (high school wrestling) it's not surprising that this happened. Closing down the school was probably an overreaction though.

Dec. 20, 2006, 8:58 a.m.This happens often to wrestlers. It takes one to have this strain of herpes to wrestler on the mat then it just runs rampant through all the wrestlers.

Dec. 20, 2006, 11:17 a.m.All Herpes can be sexually transmitted....with the increase in o r a l s e x these days lots of people have type 1 in the "bad" place. Once it's there it is spred by having sex. I know someone with it and it is apparently extremely painful during the initial infection and then of course you have it for the rest of your life. These wrestlers will have to be on Valtrex for the rest of their lives no matter where they are infected, type 1 or 2 dosen't matter.
People talk like Type 1 is no big deal but it's just as bad and in fact is more dangerous during pregnancy than type 2.

Dec. 24, 2006, 1:01 a.m.[Workers spent yesterday disinfecting all the areas of the school used by the wrestling team, including lockers, showers, and the practice room, officials said.] So let me get this strait.... you can use something to get rid of herpies on lockers, showers ect....... Why cant you use the same stuff on sexual type? [ Hold on hunny i got to disinfect myself first before we continue]
